Here’s a list of upcoming Tournaments and Smokers for anyone interested in garnering competition experience in Kickboxing, Boxing, Jiu-Jitsu and/or Submission Grappling. It’s a good idea to follow the links to each tournament and read the rules and regulations for each one, because they are not always exactly the same. This list is not necessarily exhaustive, but the ones I could find fairly easily.

As most of you know FreeFall MMA is a bit of a work in progress due to building permit issues that have held up construction, but at long last the functional fitness room into which the stuff from the TXT classes will be moving is slated to be finished by February 9th, at which time we will have all our heavy bags hung up and can begin our wrestling classes.
The Wrestling Schedule beginning on Tuesday, February 9th will be:
Hey Folks, a couple announcements about the schedule at FreeFall MMA.
Because the building permit issue has displaced an exercise class at Toadal Fitness, we’re delaying starting the Wrestling Class till February. Maybe sooner, if the room is ready sooner. Sorry for the delay, that part is beyond my control. In the meantime though, there are plenty of Brazlian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, and MMA classes. We even have a Judo class with Souley Ongoiba on Fridays 12 – 1:30 PM!
Tomorrow, we’re pretty excited that Caren Elise Camblin is teaching her first class at FreeFall MMA, Jiu-Jitsu 12 – 1:30 PM tomorrow (Wed)!
MMA Stretching Class Added
I’ve made a slight change to the schedule that I think you’ll like, because I hear a lot of you complaining about your flexibility. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 – 9:30 PM will be a designated time to work on your flexibility for those high kicks or those crazy lasso and rubber guards. That’s right, a dedicated time for Stretching! It’s going to be called Stretching for MMA.
Today’s (Tues 5) Schedule is
Jiu-Jitsu 6:45 – 8:00 PM
Muay Thai 8:00 – 9:00 PM
Stretching: 9:00 – 9:30 PM
Thanks to everyone who came out and rolled with us to bring in the New Year.
We enjoyed seeing our old friends, and a few new faces as well at Open Mat on New Year’s Day. It was good to have black belts from both sides of this town on the mat!
The first day of official classes is tomorrow Monday, January 4th, beginning with Muay Thai at 6:20 PM, followed by Jiu-Jitsu at 7:30, and MMA at 8:30! The full schedule can be found HERE:
HIGHLIGHT: we have some cool noon classes. Doug Livingston will be teaching Jiu-Jitsu from 12 – 1:30 on Tuesday, Caren will be teaching 12-1:30 on Wednesday, and we’re very excited to have Souleymane Ongoiba teaching Judo Fridays from 12 – 1:30.
Walk around the building from Toadal Fitness’ main entrance to get to the dojo. Here’s a picture to get you oriented. Pretty soon our name will be on this marquee as well. Click on the pic to get a map to the dojo.
Also, please bear with us the first few weeks, as we will be sharing our evening class space with a workout class that has been displaced by the bureaucracy in charge of building permits. This situation is temporary, but no excuse to not get started training right away in 2016!
Caren and I would like to invite you all to please come join us for Open Mat on New Year’s Day to see the new space and begin 2016 in the correct stance! The address is 1280 17th Avenue, Santa Cruz, CA 95062. The doors will be open 12 – 4 PM. The first day of official classes will be Monday, January 4th with Muay Thai from 6:20 – 7:30 PM, Jiu-Jitsu from 7:30 – 8:30 PM, and MMA from 8:30 – 9:30 PM.
We will also be hosting a grand opening party at the end of January, details to be announced, so stay alert for that announcement.
In the meantime, we want to wish everyone a Happy Yuletide and thank you all for the love and support, both for the new school and for Dustin’s pro debut. Here’s to great things to come and a truly excellent 2016!
Thank you everyone who came together to support Dustin Moore in his Bellator 147 Pro MMA Debut. Obviously, not the result we wanted. The ref made what can only be described as a controversial early stoppage in the 1st round, but I am so very proud of Dustin for standing up and seizing the wonderful opportunity that Bellator offered him.
It takes some serious grit, determination and courage to step onto such a big stage on such short notice. The struggle to get all his medicals completed in a few weeks for his pro licensing was a much harder battle than the one he had in the cage, but he conquered that one and is NOW a fully licensed professional fighter, living the dream. I am honored to be his coach.
I’d also like to thank my fellow cornermen Peeh Tungalo and Jerome Auttrey, for being professional, courteous, and level-headed throughout the process, as well as the entire FreeFall MMA team that came together to support him via buying tickets to the fight, purchasing a Team Moore shirt, or making donations to help defray the cost of his medicals. Dustin’s mom, Sandra, Michelle Bayuga, and Caren Elise Camblin also have our love and thanks for all the support during the previous 2 weeks of absolute madness.
Many great things to come from this young man and FreeFall MMA in 2016!
